Scientific name: Bothrops alternatus

Biology

Medium size animal, reachs 1,40m, even though rarely grows beyond 120cm.

They have crepuscular and overnight habits using the pit to identify the prey thru the body´s heat and the tong to trace down it´s dead body.

It´s very dangerous and valiant, like the average of Bothrops, but runs away once is disturbed.

The origin of the name Urutu Cruzeiro is due to a cross designed on it´s head. Along it´s body, there are a very beautiful design with those crosses inside each one.
