Scientific name: Bothrops jararacussu

Biology

Spectacular and impressing specimen of Borhrops, which can reach 250cm in females, they are valiant and very fast.

Females are black and yellow, diferently from males which are black and brown, smaller and thinner.

Because of their colors and size, females are easily recognizable, much more than males in the nature.

They differ from regular Bothrops jararaca in size, color, skin design and the upper part of the head, wich is completely black.

Because of their huge size, they pump and liberate a big amount of venom, turning the ophidian accidents more dangerous.

Being a reptile, they are dependent of external sources of heating and because of this, it´s commom to find them laid under the sun or on a heating surface before beginning their daily activities in order to get energy.

Viviparous, give birth to 16-24 live-young in the beginning of the rainning season
